The insurance system of the ECA and its monopoly status is unique in Europe. It is practiced in 18 other cantons, based on solidarity and mutuality.
Facts:
2/3 of the premiums you pay are used to compensate victims of fire or natural damage by enabling them to rehabilitate their damaged property or to replace them with the same quality goods.
The remaining 1/3 of your insurance premium allows the ECA to strengthen the security of the population and businesses through active prevention measures. It also serves to finance equipment and training for fire services, management of central alarms processing firefighters (118) and the establishment of more effective aid.

Fire, lightning strikes, explosions, …
Natural elements:
Flooding due to natural phenomena, hurricanes (storms), hail, the rockslides and rock falls, landslides, avalanches, excessive weight and slippage of the snow
— Health Insurance (The basic is mandatory)
Health Insurance – Basic (mandatory)
Who needs it: Anyone living in Switzerland, by law. New arrivals have 3 months to get it, before risking problems.
Covers: What does mandatory health insurance cover?
Mandatory health insurance provides cover for illness, maternity and accidents and offers all insureds the same range of benefits. Insurance providers must treat insureds equally, making no distinction according to their state of health or indicators of their health. This applies particularly to acceptance, the choice of insurance type and reimbursement of benefits. It doesn’t cover (among other things) damages from accidents & dental care.
